Alanah Wray, BVSc

Emergency Medicine

Dr. Alanah Wray grew up in Toronto, Canada. Animals have always been a part of her life as she grew up with many family pets including cats, dogs, rabbits, birds and hamsters. Becoming a veterinarian was a goal of hers since about the age of four. She was first introduced to the world of veterinary medicine when she started working at a busy veterinary hospital in Toronto as part of a high school cooperative education program. It was here that her career choice was solidified. After high school, Dr. Wray attended the University of Guelph and graduated with a Bachelor in Science majoring in Animal Biology. She then moved to Sydney, Australia for the next five years to attend the University of Sydney, where she obtained her veterinary degree. She continuously worked as a veterinary technician throughout her student career, from the age of sixteen until she graduated veterinary school.

Following graduation, she returned to North America and took her first job as an emergency clinician at a busy specialty emergency hospital in rural, small-town Pennsylvania. After two and a half years in Pennsylvania, Dr. Wray really missed her previous beach lifestyle, so she decided to move to Naples, Florida where she could live by the ocean again. She spent the next two and a half years working at another specialty emergency hospital in Naples before deciding to go on her next adventure which has led her to Charleston!

In her spare time, she enjoys being at the beach, partaking in various artsy hobbies, horse riding, spending time with friends, traveling, and also just relaxing at home with her two Ragdoll cats.
