Monty Weeks – MIS fx repair

Monty is a 5mo M/I yellow lab puppy that was accidentally stepped on by the owner. After the accident he refused to use the left front leg and was painful when the elbow was touched. Monty was initially taken to his regular veterinarian who performed radiographs and diagnosed a fracture of the left elbow, a lateral humeral condylar fracture. This type of fracture is common in young animals or ones that fall, typically, from the owner’s arms. Monty’s owner was referred to Charleston Veterinary Referral Center for surgery.

Roxanne Buck – SH1 calcaneal fracture

Roxanne is a 5mo F/I Rottweiler that was accidentally stepped on by a horse. After the accident she refused to use the left rear leg. Roxanne was initially taken to her regular veterinarian who performed radiographs and diagnosed a fracture of the left heel bone or calcaneus. The fracture involved the growth plate. Roxanne’s owner was referred to Charleston Veterinary Referral Center for surgery.

Chipmunk Henn – Bilateral elbow FCP’s

Chipmunk is a 1.3yo F/S lab mix that presented to Charleston Veterinary Referral Center for left front leg lameness after running in the yard. On physical exam Chipmunk had fluid in her elbow joints and pain on palpation of the elbows. Although Chipmunk’s owner was only seeing lameness of the left front leg, Chipmunk had changes and pain associated with both elbows. Radiographs performed by Chipmunk’s referring veterinarian showed only minor osteoarthritic changes to the left elbow. A computerized tomography (CT) scan was performed to further evaluate both elbows.
