Alyx Tracy, DVM, DACVECC

Dr. Alyx Tracy is an Emergency & Critical Care specialist with a passion for treating critically-ill patients, supporting their families, and empowering the team members that care for them.

Dr. Tracy earned both her undergraduate and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees from NC State University. She then completed a one year rotating internship in Small Animal Medicine & Surgery at The Ohio State University before returning to NC State to finish her residency and specialty certification in Emergency & Critical Care. She joined the CVRC family as a Criticalist right after residency in the fall of 2021.

As a Critical Care specialist, Alyx cares for patients with some of the most complex and intensive medical needs. She finds great fulfillment in caring for her patients, as well as guiding and supporting their families through what can often be an incredibly difficult and scary time. In addition to patient care, Dr. Tracy has a special interest in practical veterinary education. She enjoys working closely with local general practice clinics and has overseen CVRC’s veterinary student externship and new graduate training programs since joining the hospital. She also frequently lectures both locally and in various regional conferences.

In 2024, Dr. Tracy became a member of CVRC’s leadership team as the Supervising Specialty Doctor. She has been ardently committed to maintaining an exceptional standard of medical care and has an ever-deepening intense appreciation for the people that make CVRC special. Alyx is honored to play such a pivotal role in shaping CVRC’s continued growth while fostering the medical excellence, collaboration, and compassionate team culture that define the hospital.

Outside of work, Alyx can be found spending time with her husband, who is also a member of CVRC’s Critical Care nursing team, and snuggling with their two dogs, Fyona and Sunni. The Tracy family’s favorite activities include taste-testing Charleston’s incredible culinary scene with their friends, binge-watching their favorite shows, and road-tripping together to find new adventures along the way.
