Jessie Larson, DVM

Dr. Jessie Larson is a small animal veterinarian with a passion for emergency medicine, teaching, and bringing positivity into every clinical environment. After earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Georgia’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2022, she completed a small animal rotating internship at Kansas State University. She went on to join the K-State faculty as a Clinical Assistant Professor in Small Animal Emergency, where she helped train rotating interns and fourth-year veterinary students on the emergency service.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Larson served as the course coordinator for the second-year Basic Emergency and Critical Care course, teaching fluid therapy, triage, and point-of-care ultrasound. She also lectured third-year students in the Advanced Emergency and Critical Care course on topics such as SIRS/sepsis, heat stroke, and snake envenomation. Her dedication to education earned her the House Officer Award from the fourth-year students in 2023, followed by the Faculty Award from the next graduating class—both deeply meaningful honors from the students she mentored.

Dr. Larson discovered her love for veterinary medicine early, beginning as a high school volunteer in a local veterinary hospital. Her enthusiasm for science, medicine, and meaningful human–animal connections made the profession a natural fit. She has been working in veterinary medicine for over 14 years, including nearly four years as a veterinarian.

Known for her uplifting energy, Dr. Larson strives to make every interaction encouraging and supportive, helping create a positive atmosphere for colleagues, clients, and students alike.

Outside of work, she shares her home with her husband, Justin; their German shepherd, Richard; and two cats, Milo and Mouse. When she isn’t in the hospital, you’ll likely find her outdoors—running, biking, hiking, exploring new trails, or relaxing at the beach whenever the weather is warm. She also loves discovering new restaurants and bars on the weekends.
